The MediaWiki software contains a "signature" feature, which allows users to insert a record of the time and date of their contribution, while also identifying them as the user making the comment. If you have not made any changes, it will contain a link to your user page, as well as the current date and time.

When contributing to talk page discussions (namespace will contain the word "talk", usually reached from the "discussion" tag at the top of the page), you should sign your comments with ~~~~ (4 tildes). You can get a timestamp only with 5 tildes, and your signature without the timestamp with 3.

When contributing to articles, do not sign your contributions. The software remembers every version of every page (even when deleted), so the page history will show a record of authorship. The text of the article itself should be clean.
